Pennsauken board ratifies hires, retirements and dozens of co-curricular appointments

The Pennsauken Township Board of Education on Feb. 18 approved an extensive personnel package that included new hires, several leaves of absence, resignations and retirements, and a roster of co-curricular and athletic appointments.

Among the hires approved were Tracy Wingate as an art teacher at Pennsauken High School, Katlyn Ubil as a staff accountant in the administration office, and Rosa Ovalles as assistant transportation supervisor. The personnel agenda also documented multiple family medical leaves (FMLA) and leave revisions; the minutes note that return dates are contingent on medical certification where applicable.

The minutes list a number of retirements and separations: Anne Marie Dewitt, a math teacher with 33 years of service, submitted retirement effective June 30, 2025; Lisa Swint, an English teacher, also listed retirement effective June 30, 2025 after 26 years. The board approved payment for unused sick and vacation days for retired and former employees where applicable.

Co-curricular and coaching approvals covered Pennsauken High School and HPMS spring sports and club advisors, with stipends and interview panels identified for many positions. Athletic appointments for PHS included Rolando Gautier as head baseball coach and Phil Zimmerman as head girls track and field coach; interviewers for PHS hires were Athletic Director William Snyder and Principal Rich Bonkowski, as recorded in the minutes.

The personnel slate was bundled with other agenda items (2–35) and approved on a motion by Mr. Carey with Ms. Johnson seconding; the motion carried. New hires remain contingent where noted on certification, fingerprint background review and other pre-employment requirements.
