Pennsauken board awards $11.66 million PHS magnet-school addition; hires construction manager

On Jan. 21, 2025 the Pennsauken Township Board of Education approved awards and payment applications tied to the district’s PHS STEM/Magnet School construction program.
The board awarded the PHS Magnet School addition IFB to Nacom Companies of Runnemede for a total base bid of $11,655,000, including a $130,000 allowance. The project’s scheduled completion date is June 30, 2026. The board also approved an award for construction management services to Pinnacle Consulting & Construction Services for a not-to-exceed amount of $346,000, payable from the current capital budget.
Separately, the board approved Payment Application #6 for the Carson & Franklin Elementary School HVAC project to W.J. Gross, Inc. for $292,114, with a noted balance-to-finish plus retainage of $206,020. Additional final payment applications for other capital work were included on the addendum and approved (see Payment Application #5 Final for the Voice Notification Fire Alarm System; Payment Application #11 Final for Phifer Middle School HVAC upgrades; Payment Application #9 Final for theatrical lighting and house lighting replacement).
Board minutes show the awards followed the district’s bid and RFP processes and were recommended by LAN Associates and the district’s construction oversight. The board motion to approve business and finance items (including the awards and payment applications) was carried during the Jan. 21 meeting.
What happens next: contract documents and procurement paperwork will be finalized by district administration and the awarded contractors may begin work in accordance with notice-to-proceed timelines and applicable permitting and procurement conditions.
