Pennsauken board approves multiple contracts, $8.95 million in payments and HVAC and textbook purchases

The Pennsauken Township Board of Education on Sept. 16 approved a slate of financial and contract actions, including payment of bills totaling $8,946,253.49 and several project payment applications and vendor contracts.
School Business Administrator John Ogunkanmi presented the bill lists and Treasurer’s and Secretary’s reports for July and August; the documents were certified under cited New Jersey administrative rules. The board approved the bill lists and transfers, noting totals for general fund bills, food services and payroll that together amount to $8,946,253.49.
In contracts and purchases, the board approved a contract with the Gateway to College Program at Rowan College of Burlington County for the 2024–25 school year in an amount up to $250,000 and authorized purchase of digital curriculum textbooks from McGraw Hill LLC for $100,000. The board also awarded a bid for translation equipment to TranslateLive LLC for 20 ILA Pro units ($49,980 total) to support multi-language instruction.
Capital project payments were authorized to W.J. Gross for multiple projects: Payment Application #9 for Phifer Middle School HVAC upgrades for $77,122 (balance to finish and retainage $287,123); Payment Application #4 for the Pennsauken Intermediate and Burling voice notification fire alarm system for $84,983 (balance to finish $69,162); Payment Application #7 for theatrical lighting and house lighting replacement totaling $305,472 (balance to finish $253,334); and Payment Application #2 for the Carson & Franklin elementary HVAC project for $480,068 (balance to finish approximately $1.42 million).
The board also recommended and approved a contract with Trane US, Inc. under the OMNIA Partners cooperative for HVAC controls and equipment upgrades at Pennsauken High School and Phifer Middle School not to exceed $299,999.
Each of the listed finance and contract items was included in the consent motion (Business & Finance items 53–66) and approved by the board on a motion by Ms. Johnson, seconded by Mrs. Hutton; the motion carried.
The board did not discuss vendor selection details at length in the business meeting; awarded bid packages for translation equipment listed vendors that did not respond.
