After an executive session on Nov. 18, the Pennsauken Township Board of Education voted to approve the appointment and employment contract of Anastasia Michals as Director of Curriculum. The contract specifies a salary of $140,000 to be prorated for service from Nov. 19, 2025 through Feb. 13, 2026, pending receipt of New Jersey certification. The appointment was approved by motion (Mr. McDevitt; second Mr. Alves).
Earlier in the meeting the board recommended and approved a broad set of personnel actions including teacher appointments, substitute nurses, bus drivers, bus aides and custodial transfers. The personnel slate lists positions, start dates and account codes, and notes that start dates are contingent on fingerprint/criminal-history review, medical clearances and certification where required. The board also approved a salary modification for vehicle mechanic Alex Caraballo, increasing his compensation from $40,556 to $57,000 effective Nov. 19, 2025.
During the general public comment period, resident and bus aide Dennis Archible welcomed Superintendent Dr. James Bevere to the district and urged higher pay for vehicle mechanics, more diligent background checks on new employees to reduce turnover, and said he values his work with students. Resident Kristina Velez raised concerns about the middle school dress code. The board carried the personnel and addendum items as presented.
