Pennsauken board ratifies personnel actions, approves settlements and notes superintendent search in executive session

The Pennsauken Township Board of Education on Jan. 21 ratified a broad set of personnel actions — including new hires, leaves of absence, salary adjustments and incentive payments — and approved settlement agreements in open session.

The personnel items approved by the board included classroom teachers, special education staff, custodians, transportation staff and new stipend positions for co-curricular programs. Several personnel appointments listed start dates contingent on fingerprint criminal-history review, certification and required medical clearances.

In open session the board approved a motion to accept a settlement in JJV and KV v. Pennsauken School District (OAL Docket no. EDS-02614-24) and an agreement between the board, the Pennsauken Transportation Authority and Employee ID#4602 regarding PERC Docket No. AR-2024-579. The agenda packet and the motion recorded that the motions carried.

The board also noted that it had met in executive session earlier to discuss legal matters and personnel — including the superintendent search — under N.J.S.A. 10:4-12. The board’s executive-session resolution said that matters that need not remain confidential would be made public when appropriate; no additional confidential details were disclosed in the public minutes.

Acting Superintendent Ms. Steer also reported that the Longfellow Park project items that were budgeted are complete and that ribbon-cutting ceremonies are planned for warmer months; she said a pavilion will be added to Alumni Hill.
