Representatives from the Planning Commission informed the Economic Development Commission on Feb. 17 that Callao has expressed interest in installing a cell tower and that the commission is exploring animal shelter options.
John Kost (Planning Commission representative) reported Callao’s interest in a cell-tower installation. Commissioners and planning staff also discussed animal shelter options under consideration; no formal plan or recommendation was presented at the meeting.
Why it matters: communications infrastructure decisions (such as siting a cell tower) can affect local coverage, permitting, and land use, and animal shelter options relate to county services and facility needs. Both topics were presented for discussion and did not result in formal action.
What’s next: planning staff will continue to evaluate the cell-tower interest and animal-shelter options and return to commissioners with additional information as needed.
