Snowflake staff, library and council begin planning for nation’s 250th and town sesquicentennial

Council members on Jan. 6 discussed how Snowflake might participate in the nation’s 250th celebration while preparing for the town’s sesquicentennial. The library is already hosting several events, and council members suggested forming a committee that would include representatives from Taylor, Snowflake Police and the library to coordinate activities.
Council member Byron Lewis suggested buying new flags and keeping them up for the month and looking for 250‑year “swag” and other commemorative materials. Members discussed whether Snowflake could support Taylor’s planned July 4 parade on the mountain and how the towns could coordinate advertising, planning and funding.
The council did not take any formal action but asked staff to return with ideas about committee membership, possible parade participation and modest budget options for flags and promotional materials.
