The Raeford City Council authorized staff to complete the closeout of a Community Development Block Grant that funded water system improvements to serve Butterball, LLC.
City Manager Dennis Baxley said the CDBG Economic Development Grant totaled $390,750 and enabled Butterball to expand operations and create about 50 full-time jobs, roughly 60% of which were held by low- or moderate-income workers. The council opened a public hearing to solicit comments; none were offered.
Councilman Wayne Willis moved to close the public hearing and to approve the closeout and authorize LKC Engineering to prepare the final documentation; Councilman Robert Conoly seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor was authorized to sign the closeout documents.
