Lake Stevens board unanimously approves warrants, contracts, Perkins spending and student trip; two directors abstain on prior minutes

The Lake Stevens School District Board of Directors on Oct. 9 approved routine fiscal and operational items, including warrants, personnel actions, contracts and student travel.
Director David Iseminger moved to approve the consent agenda covering Warrant Nos. 314096–314263 totaling $1,046,072.55, additional comp/retail tax warrants totaling $8,109.92, personnel appointments and resignations, and September payroll warrants 313838–313865 and 314067–314095 totaling $12,913,990.50; the motion was seconded and unanimously approved.
Separately, Director Vildan Kirby moved to approve an overnight DECA Western Regional Leadership Conference trip for 30–40 students to Bellevue, Nov. 7–9, 2024; the motion was seconded by Director Lund and unanimously approved.
The board unanimously approved final acceptance of several public works projects after the Operations Department’s review of contractor work (including electrical work, GFCI replacement, camera cabling, pool service, gym sound system service, A/V repairs and fire-alarm circuit repairs), and unanimously awarded a public works contract to install interactive displays at Stevens Creek Elementary.
Director Nina Hanson moved to approve Career and Technical Education spending of the annual federal Perkins Grant; the motion was seconded by Director Kirby and unanimously approved.
On a separate procedural item, Director David Iseminger moved to approve the Sept. 25, 2024 meeting minutes; the motion was seconded by Director Vildan Kirby and approved with Directors Nina Hanson and Paul Lund abstaining because they were not present on Sept. 25.
No contested votes were recorded in the public transcript; the motions noted above were described as seconded and unanimously approved except for the stated abstentions on the Sept. 25 minutes.
