The Lake Stevens School District Board of Directors on Oct. 9 recognized staff and students and heard presentations on school improvement strategies and career-technical education outcomes.
Dr. Vivanco, superintendent of NWESD 189, presented Kelly Guilfoil with the 2025 NWESD 189 Regional Teacher of the Year award. In her remarks, Guilfoil said she will spend the year focusing on students after asking them what they wanted from school: "one quarter requested more relevant engagement in their lessons, another third desired meaningful relationships, and the final third felt overwhelmed by work and pressure." President Taylor praised Guilfoil and the district’s educators for the work they do.
