Mayor Ed Kolar told the City Council on July 5 that sustained outreach to state officials has produced a notice the City of Milan will be awarded $3.6 million for water and sewer plant improvements, to be distributed over five years. Kolar said he has been in contact with state elected officials and will continue to seek additional funding from the state and federal governments.
City Administrator Jim Lancaster also briefed the council that the city has submitted a Spark Grant application that may fund improvements to Wilson Park and utility upgrades to Tolan Square if awarded. No binding appropriation or contract was approved at the meeting; the mayor’s announcement reported an award notice had been received.
