The City of Milan City Council approved Resolution 2023-14 on July 5 to honor Parks and Recreation Director Ellen Bell on the occasion of her retirement and to name a bridge the 'Bell Bridge.' The motion, offered by Councilmember Dr. Shannon Dare Wayne and seconded by Pro-Tem Mary Kerkes, passed unanimously among the six members in attendance.
Councilmember David Baldwin noted the department’s work on the plaque and thanked the Parks and Recreation staff and volunteers. Public Works staff were acknowledged for installing the plaque. The resolution is ceremonial; staff were directed to install signage and complete commemorative actions.
