Buffalo County approves $103,916 local match for RYDE Transit application

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners voted March 24 to authorize RYDE Transit — operated by the Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska — to apply for federal public transportation funds under Section 5311 and to commit a local funding match of $103,916 for FY 2026–2027. The motion to approve Resolution 2026-10 and the local match was moved by Commissioner Bill Maendele and seconded by Commissioner Ivan Klein. The vote carried with Commissioners Maendele, Klein, Loeffelholz, Lynch and Morrow voting Aye; Commissioner Myron Kouba recorded an abstention and Commissioner Timothy Higgins was absent.

Transportation Director Charles McGraw attended to review required funding matches for RYDE Transit operations. The minutes state the funding is intended for transportation operations in the transit system’s service area and that the local match amount for 2026–2027 is $103,916. The board’s action authorizes RYDE Transit to apply for the federal and state assistance described in the resolution.
