At its June 10 business meeting, the Pennsauken Township Board of Education approved a block of business-and-finance items that included proposed transfers of unanticipated 2023–24 surplus to reserve accounts, multiple professional-service contract awards and major capital payments.
The Board approved resolutions authorizing transfers of current-year surplus "not to exceed" the following amounts: $6,500,000 to the Capital Reserve (citing NJSA 18A:21-2 and NJSA 18A:7G-13), $3,000,000 to the Maintenance Reserve and $1,000,000 to the Emergency Reserve. The Treasurer’s and Secretary’s reports for April were presented and certified as in agreement.
The Board also recommended awards and renewals for professional services and vendors for the 2024–25 fiscal year: an auditor contract with Bowman & Company (annual audit fee not to exceed $128,500), Architect of Record to LAN Associates (hourly cap $170), Engineer of Record to Remington & Vernick (hourly cap $200), and a school physician contract with Dr. Anthony Bonett (not to exceed $55,000 annually). Multiple cooperative-contract purchases and bid awards were approved for supplies, custodial services and special-education services.
Capital and capital-adjacent approvals included payment applications and contract awards for ongoing projects, a Trane HVAC equipment purchase not to exceed $239,732 for high-school spaces, Payment Application #7 for Phifer Middle School HVAC of $855,275, Payment Application #4 for lighting replacement of $76,887, and the purchase of three Ford Transit vans at a combined cost of $293,616.54. The Board also approved a License Agreement to rent Temple University’s Liacouras Center for the June 18 graduation at a district cost of $34,900.
The business-and-finance block (items 44–99) was approved by motion. Many of the contract awards and transfers reference state purchasing laws and cooperative contracts; the Board indicated that expenditures will be made contingent upon certification of sufficient funds.
