Lipscomb County's Commissioners Court approved a guideline and application packet from CAPEX Resources Group for tax abatement and directed the county attorney to review the contract before the court holds a public hearing in April.
Jeff Snowden of CAPEX Resources Group participated by phone and described the materials previously provided to the court. The packet sets criteria and an application process for considering property-tax abatements in Lipscomb County.
The court voted unanimously to adopt the guideline and application packet as a working document and instructed the county attorney to review the CAPEX contract for any significant changes. Commissioners also directed that a public hearing be scheduled at the April meeting so final approval and contract execution can proceed if both sides agree.
No financial commitment or abatement award was made at the March 9 meeting; the action recorded was approval of the guidelines and authorization to move forward with legal review and public notice.
Next steps: County Attorney review and a public hearing at the April Commissioners Court meeting.
