Waupaca County Board elects Dick Koeppen chair; David Morack named vice chair

County Clerk Kristy Opperman called the Waupaca County Board of Supervisors to order at 9:01 a.m. on April 19, 2022, administered the Oath of Office to newly elected supervisors and confirmed the meeting notice complied with Wisconsin Statutes.
The board approved the meeting agenda on a motion from Supervisor Peter Bosquez, seconded by Supervisor Joe McClone; the vote was 27-0. Supervisor Fred Zaug moved to approve the March 15, 2022 minutes, seconded by Supervisor James Nygaard; that motion also passed 27-0.
For the board’s leadership, Supervisor DuWayne Federwitz nominated Supervisor Dick Koeppen for County Board Chair and Supervisor Kenneth Jaeger nominated Supervisor Peter Bosquez. Following three calls for additional nominations, the board voted by secret ballot. Clerk Kristy Opperman announced that Supervisor Koeppen received 22 votes and Supervisor Bosquez received 5 votes; Koeppen was declared the winner and took the gavel as County Board Chair.
Supervisor Fred Zaug nominated Supervisor David Morack for County Board Vice Chair. After three calls for additional nominations and no other nominees, Supervisor Morack was declared vice chair.
The organizational meeting proceeded without further contested leadership votes. The board adjourned at 9:34 a.m.
