Fulton County approves $230,699.51 state grant for NG911 maintenance and hires per-diem dispatcher

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted to accept a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 on Dec. 30, 2025 to support maintenance and upgrades of regional 911 systems.
EMA/911 Director Brian Barton and HR Administrator Mary Huston reviewed the grant for use toward SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade, and Fulton ILEC maintenance projects. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant; the motion carried with all commissioners in favor.
At the same meeting the board approved hiring Troy Wagaman as a Per Diem 911 Dispatcher, effective pending required clearances. The Salary Board held a brief meeting to set the dispatcher's salary; the board discussed personnel matters in executive session later in the meeting.
The approved grant and staffing decision are intended to support county 911 operations and system maintenance in the coming year.
