HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. — The Harrison County Commissioners approved a rezoning request Aug. 4 for a Poplar Trace, LLC property and moved a permitting‑software funding request to the County Council for further consideration.
Planning & Zoning Director Chris Kincade told the commissioners the Plan Commission heard the rezoning request on July 28 and unanimously recommended approval. Commissioner Annissa Kellum moved to approve changing the zoning from R3 to a Planned Unit Development; Commissioner Nelson Stepro seconded and the motion carried 2–0.
Kincade also presented an updated quote for a permitting software system: $20,000 for the first year and $15,000 per year for years two and three. Commissioners voted to forward that funding request to the County Council for budgeting and final approval.
The commissioners did not discuss specific conditions attached to the PUD in the recorded minutes; Kincade’s presentation referenced Plan Commission review and recommendation. The permitting‑software request will appear on the County Council agenda, which must approve funding before the county can execute a multi‑year contract.
