Commissioners forward riverboat appropriations to council and approve $35,000 fire-protection agreements

Harrison County commissioners on July 21 approved several riverboat-related budget actions and agreements affecting local fire districts.
County Administrator Chad Shireman asked the board to forward two riverboat additional appropriation requests to the county council: one for infrastructure (amount recorded in the minutes contains an apparent numeric transcription error) and one for revenue sharing totaling $152,612.11. Both requests were forwarded to the county council by unanimous vote.
Shireman also presented riverboat agreements that would provide $35,000 each to nine taxing units to supplement fire protection: Boone Township Fire District; Harrison Township Fire District; Heth-Washington Township Fire District; Posey-Taylor Township Fire District; Palmyra Fire District; Webster Township Fire District; Whiskey Run Fire District; Blue River Township Trustee; and Franklin Township Trustee. Commissioners approved and signed those agreements by a 3-0 vote.
Separately, the board approved flagged claim payments contingent on funding and completed contracts, including $5,288.50 to vendor Nexterra and $9,470.34 to L&W Emergency Equipment; the board also approved routing $35,000 payments to the township/fire district accounts once contracts are on file in the auditor's office.
