Lake Stevens School District honors volunteers; Andrea Wright receives Distinguished Service Award

Superintendent Ken D. Collins opened a Special Meeting April 24 at the Educational Service Center to honor district volunteers, saying, "Tonight is all about you — our wonderful volunteers. This is a time to pause and celebrate the energy and commitment each of you gives." The board presented the Distinguished Service Award to Andrea Wright for her leadership of the Facilities Needs Advisory Committee and her sustained community service.
Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources John Balmer introduced awards for Volunteers of the Year from each school. Individuals recognized included Cliff Chaffee (Lake Stevens High School), Katie Rugg (Cavelero Mid High School), Amber Scoglio (Lake Stevens Middle School), Andrea Duerr (Glenwood Elementary), Kim Basler (Hillcrest Elementary), Katy Nicholson (Highland Elementary), Angelica Aichner (Mt. Pilchuck Elementary), Kathryn Bosworth (Skyline Elementary), Jessica Shaw (Stevens Creek Elementary), Greta Olsen (Sunnycrest Elementary), Kristin Dachelet (Early Learning Center), and Timothy Spencer (HomeLink). North Lake Middle School Volunteer of the Year Erica Nicholas was recognized but was not present.
Superintendent Collins thanked the volunteers and district staff who organized the event, and invited awardees for a group photograph before attendees joined a reception in the foyer. President Mari Taylor formally adjourned the Special Meeting at 6:00 p.m.
