Milan council approves lawn-care contract, pays $206,118.56 in bills and hears staff reports

The Milan City Council on Jan. 3 approved a lawn-care contract, authorized payment of city bills and heard routine staff reports.
Councilmember Baldwin moved to approve a contract with Heath Lawn Care; Councilmember Thompson seconded and the motion carried unanimously, approving the contract.
Later in the meeting the council approved payment of bills and payroll totaling $206,118.56. The motion to pay the bills was made by Councilmember Baldwin and seconded by Councilmember Kofflin; the motion carried unanimously.
The council approved a Consent Agenda item relating to revisions to the Council Rules and Procedures; the meeting materials indicate those revisions are scheduled for approval on Jan. 17, 2023. The Consent Agenda motion was made by Councilmember Thompson and seconded by Councilmember Nie and passed unanimously.
In staff reports, Parks & Recreation Director Ellen Bell announced a Milan Big Reds wrestling event scheduled for Jan. 7, 2023; tickets are available online and at City Hall. Fire Chief Robert Stevens provided the department’s annual response summary for 2022, reporting 1,250 total runs for the year and 607 runs that occurred within Milan city limits. Chief Stevens also thanked Councilmember Baldwin for help establishing the department website at milanarea.com.
The council set its next regular meeting for Jan. 17, 2023, with an agenda submission deadline of Jan. 11, and adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
