Galena Park ISD gives bond program and construction update; fieldhouse roof work expected soon

Ed Martier, Galena Park ISD director for facilities planning and construction, updated the board March 2 on projects funded by the district's 2016 and 2024 bond programs.

Martier showed images of the Galena Park fieldhouse and said work is progressing: "You can see that the roof's starting to come up. Actually, they're going to pour the roof by the end of next week," he told trustees, adding that once enclosed the building will be less affected by weather. He also showed construction views of a batting cage and nearby tennis courts at Galena Park High and described demolition and civil work at the Lily Building site.

Martier reported a groundbreaking at Cimarron Elementary and noted rapid progress at the site, including recent concrete pours. He invited trustees to tour the fieldhouse and said he planned a coaches' tour during a lunchtime visit.

The update was presented as an informational item; there were no motions to change funding or contracts recorded on the meeting record.
