Waupaca County adopts 2021–25 Outdoor Recreation Plan to preserve grant eligibility

The Waupaca County Board of Supervisors voted Feb. 16 to adopt the 2021–25 Waupaca County Outdoor Recreation Plan, a quinquennial update staff and committee members say will guide park acquisition, development and maintenance.
County officials said the plan incorporates public input gathered in a Dec. 1, 2020 listening session and written comments posted on waupacacountyparks.com and Facebook. The Parks and Recreation Committee and staff reviewed submissions and incorporated feasible suggestions; all written comments were included as an appendix to the plan.
The board and committee emphasized the plan is not a land‑use or zoning document but is updated every five years to preserve eligibility for state grant programs, including the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Knowles‑Nelson Stewardship grant program. Adoption of the plan allows the county to apply for land acquisition and park development funding tied to that program.
Supervisor McClone moved adoption of Resolution No. 44 and Supervisor Spierings seconded. The motion carried without a negative vote.
The county clerk attested to the resolution; the plan will be posted and available to guide future grant applications and park planning efforts.
