Sheriff Chad Bowers reported to the commission that a cruiser has been repaired and that he has ordered two additional cruisers. He said one cruiser is expected to arrive in the current fiscal year and the second may not be delivered for about 16–18 weeks. Bowers said he plans to advertise to hire another deputy to fill staffing needs and provided a month-to-month summary of calls, arrests and cases handled by the department.
Separately, the commission approved a trial period for a new county phone system. Three phones have been shipped for the trial and Dave Cave of Cornerstone Technology Solutions will install them when they arrive.
No formal votes specific to sheriff staffing or the cruiser purchases were recorded beyond the operational updates; the phone-system trial was approved by the commission.
