Nance County Board of Equalization approves three tax list corrections after homestead audit

The Nance County Board of Equalization approved three tax list corrections on March 10 after County Assessor Megan Zoucha presented results from the Department of Revenue’s Homestead Exemption Audit. The corrections affect property owners for tax years 2022 and 2023 and increase assessed balances by a total of $1,189.52.

Zoucha told the board the audit revised previously reported exemption percentages. For tax year 2022 one property’s exemption was changed from a 30% reduction to a 10% reduction, creating a balance due of $296.00. For another 2022 property the exemption was changed from 100% to 60%, producing a balance due of $603.24. For tax year 2023 a third property’s exemption was changed from 20% to 0%, producing a balance due of $290.28.

Board members moved each correction to a vote. Darren Nelson moved and Steve Crouse seconded approval of Tax List Correction #1; Andy Ditter moved and Robert Voichoskie seconded approval of Tax List Correction #2; Scott Russell moved and Robert Voichoskie seconded approval of Tax List Correction #3. The board recorded a roll-call vote in which all seven members voted aye (Ralph Horacek, Steve Crouse, Andy Ditter, Robert Voichoskie, Darren Nelson, Scott Russell and Tim Cornwell). No votes were recorded in opposition and no members were absent.

The corrections were recorded on the tax rolls as approved by the Board of Equalization. The transcript does not specify names of the affected property owners or parcel numbers. No further action or appeals were announced during the meeting.
