Sheldon ISD recognizes teachers, students and art educators at board meeting

Sheldon ISD board and district staff honored multiple teachers, students and staff across campuses, celebrated an early-college high school earning three state distinctions and recognized 17 art teachers for a statewide award.
The Sheldon ISD Board of Trustees opened its Sept. 23 meeting with a series of recognitions honoring teachers, students and support staff across district campuses.
District staff described a list of teachers and students of the month from King, No Middle School, Cravens Early Childhood Academy and other campuses, and named paraprofessionals and support staff as care professionals of the month. Superintendent-level staff recognized Dr. Glenn Tillman (King High School) for earning a doctorate in education and noted other staff who completed advanced degrees this year.
The board also congratulated Sheldon Early College High School for meeting state outcomes in three categories that led to the district’s early college program earning the state’s top distinction for such campuses.
In addition, the board recognized 17 district art teachers named among the Texas Art Education Association’s 2024 Districts of Distinction, an award that the association presented to 94 districts statewide in recognition of integrated visual-arts curriculum and social-emotional learning supports.
District staff flagged several upcoming events tied to the district’s 2022 bond projects, including recent ribbon-cuttings at Cravens Early Childhood Academy and No Middle School, and a groundbreaking for the new ninth–tenth grade campus scheduled for Sept. 24 at 9:00 a.m. The district also announced Hispanic Heritage Month activities (Sept. 15–Oct. 15) and a fall festival set for Oct. 26.
The recognitions and announcements were presented by district staff and were framed as part of the district’s ongoing efforts to celebrate academic and extracurricular achievements across Sheldon ISD.
