Planning staff told the commission that, to ensure all affected property owners can comment, the department would reissue notices and present the item again at the April 1 meeting. Staff said the renotice is intended to avoid denying stakeholders the opportunity to participate because some parcels had outdated or nondeliverable addresses.
The item included proposed wording changes to clarify the definition and permitting path for certain establishment types and multifamily uses; staff characterized the present action as an initiation step to proceed through the formal text-amendment process. A separate initiation (Action Item 5c) to begin work on amendments clarifying multifamily development thresholds and definitions was approved so staff and the consultant can align code language ahead of the planned Unified Development Code (UDC) update.
Commissioners emphasized procedural caution — allowing the public adequate notice — and instructed staff to renotice and bring the item back. The commission took no final regulatory action on the renoticed items at this meeting.
