Warren County commissioners approve $431,300 EMS contract, fund summer ball repairs and adopt employee driving policy

At their Feb. 17 meeting the Warren County Commissioners approved a $431,300 annual EMS contract with Ascension, authorized surplus highway equipment sales, adopted a motor vehicle records policy and amended the Health Department fee schedule; they also voted to donate $7,500 to the Williamsport/Warren County summer ball program.
Clay Andrews, Commissioner President, called a Warren County Commissioners meeting to order on Feb. 17, 2026, and the board unanimously approved the agenda and routine minutes and claims.
The commissioners approved a 2026 contract with Ascension to fund EMS services at $431,300 per year after County Attorney Ingrid Barce explained the agreement adds a paramedicine vehicle to the arrangement. John Comer moved to approve the contract, Craig Greenwood seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Sheriff Anthony Pruitt presented the 2025 Sheriff/Jail annual report. He said inmate housing billing to County General totaled $76,561.50 for 2025, with $16,464 currently unpaid by the Department of Corrections. Pruitt reported unspent 2025 budget balances including $168,837.06 overall, with $34,653.21 in Public Safety/Jail and $60,333.50 in the Sheriff budget. He said jail meals averaged $1.52 across 32,912 meals and noted commissary revenues are used for items such as department cell phones and water.
The board approved several contracts, resolutions and purchases: a $3,800 additional payment to Jassen Spann for extra work on a contract; Resolution #2026‑0217A vacating an alley in Judyville at the request of Collins; Resolution #2026‑0217B adopting a motor vehicle records policy required by insurance to screen employees who drive county vehicles; and Resolution #2026‑0217C authorizing the Highway Department to advertise surplus equipment (including a 1981 distribution truck and two 2005 dump/parts trucks) for sale on GovDeals after required notice. Each of these motions was moved and seconded and passed by unanimous vote of the commissioners.
Commissioners voted to donate $7,500 from Fund 4100 to the Williamsport/Warren County summer ball program to help resurface a softball field and buy catcher equipment. Program coordinator Cody Akers said the league served about 340 children last year and has grown annually. Akers estimated resurfacing costs at $7,500–$8,000; the commissioners approved a $7,500 contribution on a motion by John Comer, seconded by Craig Greenwood.
Auditor Robin Weston‑Hubner presented an Axcess PC quote to upgrade audiovisual and conference equipment in the commissioners’/council room; the board approved the $12,946 purchase from County General Technology Upgrades. Weston‑Hubner also asked the board to pay a $4,092 GoGov invoice; commissioners approved that payment.
Coroner Justin Brummett reported the State Department of Health will donate an iPad to his office for scene photos and hotspot use and said a new ambulance is expected within two weeks (delivery via EAV), though a needed door replacement will take 3–4 weeks. Brummett told the board EMS had been reduced to a single ambulance at times; commissioners approved payment of $6,134.01 to Odle for repairs from a deer accident and agreed to retain a fourth ambulance for coverage despite its higher mileage (approximately 265,000).
Other departmental updates included highway grading and a pending right‑of‑way survey, free heart scans from the Health Department extended into March, EMA vehicle transmission repairs delayed by parts shortages, and LEDO outreach to Pine Village businesses affected by road work.
No public comment was offered. The board adjourned and set its next meeting for March 2, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
