Warren County approves amendment to paramedicine MOU as program begins with first patient

The Warren County Board of Commissioners on March 2 approved an amendment to the county’s Paramedicine Memorandum of Understanding to change the effective date to Jan. 1, 2026, at Ascension’s request so it aligns with the county’s EMS agreement.
Jane Craigin told the board that Ascension legal asked for the date change and that the paramedicine program had already begun. County Health Department Officer Dr. Sean Sharma confirmed paramedicine visits have started and staff had seen one patient as part of the program’s early operations. Commissioners approved the amendment by unanimous vote after a motion from Clay Andrews and a second from Craig Greenwood.
Commissioners characterized the change as an administrative alignment with existing EMS contracting dates; no additional funding or program expansion was approved at the March 2 meeting. Staff will continue to monitor the pilot paramedicine visits and report back to the board as the program progresses.
