Public commenters urge careful coach selection and praise Special Olympics support

Jamie Hap, tech facilitator at Campbell County High School and coordinator for the district's Special Olympics team, told trustees the program has grown dramatically and thanked the board and the Campbell County Recreation District for funding and support. "Because of your support, we were also able to remove barriers for families. There's no cost to a family for their child to compete," Hap said, noting nearly 60 athletes across seasons and substantial increases in participation in recent years.
Hap described supports the district provides—transportation, registration and travel costs—so families do not bear those expenses, and asked the board to continue investing in the program.
