At a called meeting on Nov. 4, the Wynne School Board approved a criminal background check waiver and voted to approve several personnel recommendations presented by the superintendent.
The board approved a criminal background check waiver on a motion by Mr. Spencer Parker, seconded by Mr. Michael Hirons; the meeting record states the motion passed unanimously. The hearing on the waiver was closed before the vote.
The superintendent recommended hiring Courtney Homewood, Sakoyia Cain and Veronica Lyons for High Impact Tutoring (effective Oct. 28, 2025); Elax Tucker III as custodian at the Intermediate (effective Oct. 27, 2025); and assigning additional duties to Sharon Archield for High Impact Tutoring (effective Oct. 28, 2025). The board also received a resignation letter from James Baugus, bus driver (effective Oct. 22, 2025). After discussion a motion by Mr. Michael Hirons, seconded by Mrs. Leanne Lovell, "passed unanimously" to approve the employment recommendations, duty changes, and resignations as presented by the superintendent.
The meeting record does not include discussion of funding sources for the positions, job descriptions beyond titles listed, or background details on the waiver request. The motions were recorded as approved in the board minutes. The board adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
