Wynne board renews liability insurance, adopts capacity and ethics resolutions; hears construction and FEMA recovery updates

At the Jan. 28 Wynne School Board meeting, trustees approved two liability insurance renewals, adopted a School Choice Capacity Resolution and approved a resolution under Act 1599 of 2001 allowing a staff member to enter into business with a relative under the Ethics Act.
The board approved the 2026–27 Educators Legal Liability renewal for $15,471.02 and the General Liability renewal for $541.05. Mr. Spencer Parker moved to approve the insurance renewals, Mrs. Leanne Lovell seconded, and the board voted unanimously to adopt them.
Trustees also reviewed and approved a School Choice Capacity Resolution. Mrs. Teresa Dallas moved for approval, Mr. Spencer Parker seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Under the Ethics Act (Act 1599 of 2001), the board considered and approved a resolution permitting the district to enter into a contract or do business with a family member of a staffer when required disclosures are made. Mr. Spencer Parker moved the resolution; Mr. Michael Hirons seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board received a facilities update from Nabholz Construction; the update was read to the board by Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Moore and covered ongoing district projects. Mrs. Candy Goodwin of HaloRRS presented a progress report focused on FEMA projects, ongoing disaster recovery efforts and compliance with state and federal requirements.
Board members also received routine financial reports for December and an enrollment snapshot showing total district enrollment of 2,250 students.
The meeting concluded with scheduling the next regular meeting for Feb. 17, 2026, and adjournment at 9:30 p.m.
