Fulton County proclaims March 2026 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a proclamation on Feb. 24 declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve and execute the proclamation during a short ceremony attended by county human services and local MD/IDD/EI representatives, including Julie Dovey (Human Services Director), Marissa Hockenberry of Occupational Services Inc., and representatives from The Arc of Franklin/Fulton Counties. The proclamation states, in part, "March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and do commend this observance to all of our citizens and recognize that Fulton County becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities, and knowing we are all One World, many Abilities!" The commissioners posed for a group photograph with attendees after the signing.
The minutes record no budget appropriation or direct program commitment tied to the proclamation; the action is a formal recognition encouraging public awareness and community engagement.
