At its Feb. 2 called meeting, the Jones County Commissioners Court approved a set of equipment purchases, IT changes and state-funded allocations affecting road maintenance, law enforcement and county offices.
Commissioner Roy Spalding moved and Commissioner Lonnie Vivian seconded approval of a $37,500 packer attachment from John Deere Yellowhouse for Precinct 4 to be paid with ARPA funds; the court voted aye. Commissioners also approved a $4,500 grapple bucket for a skid steer for Precinct 2, paid with ARPA funds (motion by Commissioner Roy Spalding, seconded by Commissioner Joel Spraberry).
On law-enforcement technology, the court approved moving the EFORCE software hosting environment to the AWS GovCloud at a cost of $12,000 to be paid from the technology fund and noted a renewal increase to $15,942.06. The court also approved purchases from CML Security: video storage for $22,227 (split $10,000 from commissary and $12,227 from permanent improvement) and a CCTV station for $6,740 to be paid from commissary funds. Commissioner Lonnie Vivian moved the IT-related approvals; Commissioner Roy Spalding seconded and the motions passed unanimously (Exhibit M).
The court approved a DATAPILOT grant for forensic software for the Sheriff’s Department. The grant is $3,495; the county will contribute $1,000 from the investigation fund. Commissioner Lonnie Vivian moved approval; Commissioner Roy Spalding seconded.
The court also approved the allocation and correction of SB 22 funds for the County Attorney’s Office, the Constable and the District Attorney’s Office and approved a resolution to apply for a grant to purchase a vehicle for the District Attorney’s Office. Motions on SB 22 items and the DA vehicle application were moved, seconded and passed unanimously. See Exhibits H–L.
