Davis said the Foundation co‑hosted the Blue Ridge Rising Summit, supported community outreach after flooding in Dante by delivering more than 100 meals to residents, and helped present the Southwest Virginia Tourism Awards during the Southwest Virginia Tourism Summit. She called attention to a Big Stone Gap groundbreaking for a new bike and skate park scheduled for Sept. 22 and a mural project press event in Damascus on Sept. 16.
Davis described the Foundation’s planned staffing support for the Clinch River Valley Initiative, saying the position is multi‑year funded but requires a clarified governance and reporting structure and a long‑term sustainability plan. "The opportunity aligns strongly with the Foundation’s mission in outdoor recreation, regional development, and community engagement," she said, adding the Foundation has the infrastructure to support the role with modest adjustments.
