District to add building-specific EOP language, asks staff and substitutes to keep phones accessible

The Safety & Security Committee reviewed proposed changes to the district Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) facility and communication annex. The changes would add required verbiage for buildings D (AG Shop), G (Robotics), H (Auto Shop) and J (MultiPurpose) to allow approval of gates or barriers for ventilation purposes.
Chief Leber and Lt. Self also discussed adding communication language to the EOP that would state district expectations that staff and substitutes maintain access to a mobile phone or other device capable of calling 911 at all times while on campus. Committee members discussed implementation and communication to staff but did not adopt formal policy at the meeting.
Next steps include drafting specific EOP annex language for committee review and scheduling a future meeting to approve finalized verbiage.
