Bridge City ISD trustees approve consent items, accept donations and call May trustee election

The Bridge City Independent School District Board of Trustees met Jan. 21, 2026, and approved routine consent items, accepted several donations and a contracted service agreement, and set a May trustee election.

The board voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda — minutes from the Dec. 18, 2025 meeting, tax collection and cash investment reports, financial reports, paid invoices, budget amendments and utilities. Michael Johnson moved to approve the consent items and Jerry McInnis seconded.

Trustees accepted three donations: $3,000 from the Stark Foundation to purchase clothing, toiletries and school supplies for underprivileged students; $1,000 from Walmart to purchase press‑box equipment for athletic events; and $500 from Texas A&M University for campus needs at Bridge City High School. Thad Hill moved to accept the donations; Paul Zoch seconded and the board approved the gifts unanimously.

The board approved a contracted services agreement between Region 5 Education Service Center and Rebecca Cullums, the district’s technology director. Paul Zoch moved to approve the agreement and Judy Cole seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Trustees also adopted an order calling a trustee election for Place 6 (term of Michael Johnson) and Place 7 (term of Mark Anderson) to be held Saturday, May 2, 2026. The motion to call the election was made by Thad Hill, seconded by Judy Cole, and approved unanimously.

The meeting included informational updates on the Bridge City ISD Educational Foundation’s upcoming fundraisers and a construction update on the middle school given by Will Clayton of Claycomb Associate Architects; the transcript records that updates were provided but does not include construction milestones, timeline or cost figures.

The board recessed into closed session later in the evening for a personnel matter and reconvened before adjourning at 8:15 p.m.
