Bridge City ISD safety committee reviews emergency plan updates and relocates bleeding-control kits

Committee members also were advised that Safe and Supportive School Program (SSPS) reporting required by Texas Education Code Section 37.115(k) has been completed for each campus and entered into the Texas Education Agency's Sentinel Program, including the district's first-year reporting obligations.
Information provided to the committee noted that weekly audits of campus building access control are being conducted in accordance with board policy CSA(Local) and Texas Education Code Section 37.109.
The committee discussed moving bleeding-control kits (to be co-located with automated external defibrillators). The minutes record the Middle School kit was moved from the front administrative common area to the hallway adjacent to Door No. 4 and the administrative hallway door; the Elementary School kit was moved from the nurse's office to the end of the 400 hallway adjacent to the main school hallway. The minutes state that other previously approved kit locations (approved March 24, 2025) remain unchanged.
Chief McDowell of the Bridge City Police Department told the committee that BCPD officers conduct walkthroughs at every campus and that officers in initial training are required to perform walkthroughs at all schools as part of their orientation.
The committee discussed Psychological First Aid training for staff; the minutes do not list training dates, assigned staff or implementation details.
At 5:10 p.m. the open session was adjourned and the committee met in closed session under Texas Government Code Section 551.076 to discuss the results of the District Vulnerability Assessment Full Report conducted by the Texas Education Agency on Sept. 3 and 4, 2025. The open meeting reconvened at 5:19 p.m., and the committee adjourned at 5:20 p.m. The minutes do not record actions, findings or directives from the closed session.
