Beaumont, Texas — The Beaumont Independent School District Board of Trustees on Jan. 25 voted to dismiss a grievance filed by Third Future Schools, finding the complaint was not timely under board policy GF (Local).
A trustee moved that the board adopt findings that the complaint filed by Third Future Schools on July 16, 2025, fell outside the 15-business-day filing window required by policy and therefore must be dismissed. The motion summarized the district’s review showing that TFS had been aware of the funding disputes and withholding at earlier dates, including execution dates of partnership agreements in March and April 2023 and a second amendment dated Aug. 15, 2024. "TFS failed to timely file its grievance within 15 days of the date it first knew or should have known of the decision or action giving rise to the complaint," the trustee said. The board adopted the motion, which carried 6-0.
The board then ratified a resolution nominating two Beaumont ISD representatives to serve on the Jefferson Central Appraisal District board for the 2026 term. Staff described the item as a continuation of a prior meeting and said the district needed to submit nominees by the posted deadline. The board named Eugene Landry and a second nominee as representatives; the resolution was approved 6-0.
On a related governance matter, trustees voted unanimously to postpone action on reorganizing the board to fill a vacant secretary position "out of respect to the Reese family," deferring the selection to a later date.
The meeting opened with a roll call and brief closed-session announcement under the Texas Government Code. The board adjourned after completing the listed action items.
