Public Works presented a prepared list of streets and phases funded by the city’s 1% sales‑tax program and described mapping and phase progress.
Director Lorenzo Anderson said Phase 1 (1a/1b/1c) items have been approved, designed, are under construction or completed; Phase 2 work will begin contracting and engineering. Anderson said the administration is converting the list into ward‑organized columns at council members’ request.
CAO Peter Tillerson said the 1% commission has agreed to work with the administration and offered three individuals to form a subcommittee that will reconcile the approved list and help prioritize additional streets, including more projects in South Jackson. Tillerson and Anderson said the commission’s gross receipts are reduced by prior bond payments and the available net amount is lower than headline figures; Anderson said the 1% program brings roughly $12–$15 million annually to the city while Tillerson cautioned the gross number is reduced by debt service on outstanding bonds.
Council members asked whether the commission membership from the previous administration had been contacted about stepping down; Tillerson said the mayor indicated he would contact the members and that vacancies will be handled at a forthcoming commission meeting.
Staff will work with the subcommittee and return vendor/contract updates for the next council agenda.
