Lorenzo Anderson, the city—s public works director, told the committee the traffic division has only a single push striping machine and two technicians, a shortfall that he and members said hampers the city's ability to maintain double-yellow lines, ADA-compliant markings and other safety striping. Anderson said a commercial striping machine costs roughly $300,000–$500,000 depending on model and that duplicating critical equipment is important to sustain operations.
