At its Nov. 24 meeting the La Crosse Board of Public Works approved several procurement and contract items and handled a downtown sign‑refacing request.
Director Matt Gallagher read a bidder’s proof for Tri City Contractors Inc. of Bloomer, Wis., for prequalification in the amount of $23,112,815; the board approved the prequalification unanimously.
The board also approved three construction contract payment items unanimously: a structure demolition at 55 Copeland Ave for Dirt Monkey; a planning/design agreement for 6th Street reconstruction with Mead & Hunt; and work on Onalaska/Moore Street with Gerke Excavating Inc.
On a separate item, a street‑privilege request to reface an existing double‑sided pylon sign at 603 Cash Street (MLMAA LLC) was discussed. Members asked whether the sign had been through building inspection and whether a permit is required. Council Member Goggin moved to refer the item for one week so staff could provide additional information; Director Matt Gallagher seconded and the referral passed unanimously.
