Board signs off on final contract payments, a fence permit and a Ferry Street parking amendment

At its Dec. 15 meeting the Board of Public Works approved three routine consent items: two construction contract final payments, a privilege permit for a fence right‑of‑way at City Brewery/Front Street, and a finding and order to amend the parking zone on the 400 block of Ferry Street.

The chair introduced two final payments (item 25-1435) — one for long line painting and one for Saint Andrew Street reconstruction, phase 1 — and Director Train moved with Council President Dickinson seconding; the board approved both payments unanimously with no questions.

On a permit for a fence/right‑of‑way at City Brewery/Front Street, Council President Dickinson asked for clarification about whether the request was for replacing an existing fence or installing two fences. Staff explained a business had to replace an existing fence during storm/sanitary work and both the existing and replacement fences were in the public right‑of‑way; the permit paperwork is intended to clarify the encroachment. The board approved the permit unanimously after a motion by Council member Goggin and a second by Director Train.

Regarding the Ferry Street parking-zone amendment (item 25-1442), staff explained a business owner had not realized loading zones were limited to 15 minutes and had sought a 2‑hour zone; staff characterized this as a clarification of the zone. Jackson Overbey explained the situation and the board approved the amendment unanimously on a motion by Council member Goggin and a second by the chair.
