La Crosse Board of Public Works approves bids, contract payments and a street sign permit

The La Crosse Board of Public Works on Jan. 5 approved a series of routine procurement and permitting items, including bidder proofs, contract final payments and a street-privilege sign request.
Director Gallagher presented two bidder proofs and recommended approval: Hengel Brothers Inc., of La Crosse, submitted a bid of $6,905,713 for HVAC, plumbing and related utility work; Graber Construction and Excavation Inc., of New Lisbon, submitted a bid of $1,253,527 for building demolition, site grading and removals. Gallagher recommended approval, and the board approved the bids unanimously.
The board also approved final payments on construction contracts (item 2051473). The minutes record Director Train as the mover and Council Member Goggin as the seconder; the board recorded unanimous approval.
On a separate agenda item, the board approved a street-privilege request from ETBN LLC for an existing pole sign that hangs over the State Street sidewalk. Director Gallagher moved approval, Council President Dickinson seconded, and the board voted unanimously to grant the permit.
The meeting concluded with the mayor adjourning the session.
