The Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County on June 4, 2024 approved a resolution authorizing a Fire Tower Agreement with the Georgia Forestry Commission to assist with forest‑fire detection, prevention and suppression within the county.
The agreement becomes effective July 1, 2024, and runs through June 30, 2025. Under the contract the county’s payment is capped at $4,738.58 per contract period. The agreement states Forestry will select and employ a fire‑tower operator or other staff assigned to the county unit and will submit a bill at the end of the contract period for payment.
The resolution and the agreement were presented to the commission during the June 4 meeting; the county manager and chairman signed the documents and the contract terms include a standard 30‑day termination clause.
The commission recorded the approval as part of routine agreements to maintain detection resources in the county’s rural and wooded areas.
