Chattahoochee County sets 2026 qualifying fees, schedules March filing window

The Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Jan. 26 to set candidate qualifying fees for the 2026 elections and to publish the fees as required by state law. County Commissioner Jason Frost moved to approve the schedule and fees and Commissioner Timothy Biddle seconded the motion.
Under the resolution adopted by the board, the qualifying fee for county commission candidates is $362 and the fee for candidates for the Chattahoochee County Board of Education is $72. The commission set the qualifying window to begin 9 a.m. Monday, March 2, and close at noon Friday, March 6, 2026.
The fees and filing schedule were adopted under authority of O.C.G.A. § 21-2-131, which requires county governing authorities to fix and publish qualifying fees by Feb. 1 in years when primaries or general elections will be held. County Clerk Lisa Bickel is authorized to publish the fee schedule in accordance with state requirements.
The fee action concluded the called meeting portion of the board's Jan. 26 gathering; the commission then continued into a scheduled work session that addressed department updates, grant engineering selections and other operational items. The resolution establishing the fees will be reflected in the meeting minutes and posted per statutory notice requirements.
