The Board of Commissioners of the Unified Government of Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County adopted several routine measures at its Nov. 12 meeting. All items listed below passed by unanimous vote unless otherwise noted.
Board of Education — use of Old City Hall Commissioner Damon Hoyte moved to approve the Board of Education’s use of the Old City Hall building for district operations; Commissioner Timothy Biddle seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
EMA vehicle purchase Commissioner Timothy Biddle moved to purchase a truck for the county’s Emergency Management Agency; Commissioner Jason Frost seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Industrial Development Authority appointments Commissioner Timothy Biddle moved to reappoint Mattye Kinney to the IDA (term expiring June 30, 2029); Commissioner Jason Frost seconded and the vote was unanimous. Commissioner Damon Hoyte moved to reappoint Gene Burgamy to the IDA (term expiring June 30, 2029); Commissioner Biddle seconded and that motion also passed unanimously.
Board of Elections ordinance (second reading) Commissioner Jason Frost moved and Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded approval of the ordinance’s second reading creating a Board of Elections and Registration; the vote was unanimous. (See separate coverage for ordinance text and implementation.)
Cemetery bylaws A motion to table discussion of cemetery bylaws until Dec. 3 was approved unanimously; the county attorney continues to work with the cemetery committee on ordinance language.
Executive session The commission entered executive session at 10:46 a.m. to discuss legal matters; it reconvened at 11:30 a.m. and Chairman Charles Coffey reported no votes were taken in closed session.
Next steps Several items from the work session (Nov. 25) were added to the Dec. 3 agenda, including nominees for the new Board of Elections and the cemetery bylaws; the county manager and staff will coordinate scheduling, notices and any required filings.
