The Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners recorded several formal actions during its Dec. 2 regular meeting.
Meeting calendar: Commissioners debated work-session start times. A motion to set work sessions at 4:00 p.m. failed on a 2–3 vote (Commissioners Jason Frost and Damon Hoyte voted yes; Commissioners Timothy Biddle and Gerald Douglas voted no; Chairman Charles Coffey cast the deciding opposing vote). A subsequent motion to set work sessions at 9:00 a.m. carried after a tie-break by the chairman (final vote 3–2). The Commission then adopted the 2026 meeting calendar by resolution.
Employee holiday calendar: The Commission unanimously adopted the 2026 employee holiday schedule; Commissioner Timothy Biddle moved and Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded.
Retirement plans: The Commission approved a resolution adopting the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) 457(b) deferred compensation plan and 401(a) defined contribution plan for county employees; Commissioner Jason Frost moved and Commissioner Timothy Biddle seconded; the vote was unanimous.
Appointments and property: The Commission unanimously reappointed County Manager Thomas Weaver to serve on the Two Rivers Regional Commission through Dec. 31, 2026. The Commission also voted unanimously to accept an offer to purchase two county parcels (Map C08-0063 / 376 Broad St. and Map C08-0087 / 184 Wells St.); the agenda included a limited warranty deed and a purchase-and-sale agreement for those parcels, and the meeting minutes record a motion by Commissioner Timothy Biddle, seconded by Commissioner Jason Frost, with a unanimous vote to accept the offer.
Executive session: The Commission entered executive session at 6:30 p.m. to discuss personnel and legal matters and reconvened at 7:09 p.m.; the chairman stated the closed discussions were within legal exceptions to Georgia open-meetings law and that no votes were taken while in session.
What was not decided: The Commission heard but did not act on requests in the Dec. 22 work session (for instance, a coroner request to add $2,000 in the coroner budget for an extra deputy), and a number of work-session items (engineer selection for the SEID grant, Broad Street parking/street-scape plans) were left for further procurement and agenda scheduling.
