Cusseta–Chattahoochee Commission adopts 2024 millage rate of 8.512 mills

The Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Commission adopted its 2024 tax levy on Sept. 3, setting the county maintenance millage at 8.512 mills and a combined ad valorem tax levy of 25.50 mills when the school rate is included.

Commissioner Jason Frost moved to adopt the millage and Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The measure directs the clerk to certify the resolution to the tax commissioner as required by state law.

The published 2024 Tax Levy Resolution distributes the total as follows: Maintenance and Operation of the Unified Government 23.57 mills with a rollback (local option sales tax) credit of 15.06 mills and an insurance-premium-tax rollback of 0 mills, yielding the county millage of 8.512. Maintenance and Operation of Schools is shown as 16.99 mills, bringing the total ad valorem levy to 25.50 mills.

County officials said the resolution follows the rollback calculations and statutory exemptions for homestead and personal property; the resolution also instructs the clerk to transmit a certified copy to the Tax Commissioner.

What this means for taxpayers will depend on property assessments and exemptions that apply to individual parcels; the commission record does not include per-property tax notices or projected revenue totals tied to this levy. The commission voted on the millage during its regular meeting; no amendment to the rate was recorded during the session.
