Cusseta–Chattahoochee awards Friendship Road resurfacing contract to Oxford Construction

The Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Commission voted Aug. 5 to award a Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) resurfacing contract for Friendship Road to Oxford Construction for $358,750, the low responsive bid.
SOWEGA Engineering opened bids July 22 and provided a recommendation to the county; two responsive bids were recorded: Oxford Construction at $358,750 and Robinson Paving at $389,118.85. County staff and the engineer reviewed the bids for completeness and compliance before presenting the recommendation to the commission.
Commissioner Damon Hoyte moved to award the contract to Oxford Construction; Commissioner Timothy Biddle seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. SOWEGA’s bid tabulation and the two sealed bids will be retained in county procurement records.
The commission also discussed other road projects and funding options, including the possibility of combining SPLOST and TSPLOST funds or applying for future LMIG cycles for additional resurfacing work.
